OET (OET-RV) Once a year, Aharon must take the purifying blood from the annual atonement sacrifice and put it on the projections of the altar to compensate for the altar’s imperfection. Each high priest will cover the altar’s flaws this way throughout all future generations. The altar will be very sacred—dedicated to me.

30:10 “Atonement”: the Hebrew word is associated with the concept of “covering” sin, in other words, taking care of it. In this way people are reconciled to God and become “at one” with him. Note that the problem is not on God's side, but with rebellious humanity, estranged from God, treating him as an enemy.

This last clause defines the purpose of the ritual described in this verse. See Exo 29:37. Use a natural way in your language for indicating purpose. Alternate translation: “This is to make it holy of holies to Yahweh.”
