17.19 Constituam pactum meum, etc. Pactum vero Domini cum Isaac, populo scilicet fideli, quem mater Ecclesia per fidem et baptismum generavit. Et fœdus sempiternum, quia æternæ vitæ possessio ei soli promittitur, qui cum capite suo Christo regnum cœli semper possidebit.
17.19 Constituam pactum mine, etc. Pactum vero Master when/with Isaac, to_the_people scilicet fideli, which mater Ecclesia through faith and baptismum generavit. And fœdus sempiternum, because æternæ of_life possessio to_him soli promittitur, who when/with capite his_own Christo kingdom cœli always possidebit.
17:19 The name Isaac (Hebrew yitskhaq, “he laughs”) would constantly recall Abraham’s disbelieving laughter when he heard the promise. It was also a reminder of God’s favor and his pleasure in the birth (cp. 21:6).

Consider whether it is best in your language to begin God’s response to Abraham here with a No or a “Yes”. Although God agrees that he will bless Ishmael (verse 20), he disagrees with Abraham’s request to allow Ishmael to be the one God establishes his covenant with. Alternate translation: “No, rather” or “Yes, however”
