Your language may have its own term or expression for this relationship. The phrase his son probably recalls the fact that Esau was Isaac’s favorite son (Genesis 25:28). However, make sure that your translation of this phrase does not imply that Esau was not also Rebekah’s son. Alternate translation: [Rebekah overheard what Isaac said to their son Esau] or [Rebecca listened to what Isaac said as he spoke to his son Esau]
