The point of this comparison is that just as fine gold is rare and precious, so will a man become rare after Yahweh’s judgment. If it would be helpful in your language, you could make this point explicitly. Alternate translation: [After my judgment, a man will be more rare than fine gold]

Yahweh says I will make a man rarer than fine gold as an extreme statement for emphasis. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a different way to express the emphasis. Alternate translation: [So few people will survive that a man will be rarer than fine gold]

Yahweh is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. You can supply these words from the context if that would be clearer in your language. Alternate translation: [and a human I will make rarer than the pure gold of Ophir]

The masculine terms a man and a human have a generic sense that includes both men and women. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could use language in your translation that is clearly inclusive of both men and women. Alternate translation: [I will make a person rarer than fine gold, and a human being I will make rarer than the pure gold of Ophir.]
