OET (OET-LV) Whom took_you from_ends_of the_earth/land and_from_farthest_corners_of_its called_you and_said to/for_yourself(m) servant_of_my you chosen_you and_not rejected_you.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism
(Occurrence 0) you whom I am bringing back from the ends of the earth, and whom I called from the far away places
(Some words not found in UHB: which/who took,you from,ends_of the=earth/land and,from,farthest_corners_of,its called,you and,said to/for=yourself(m) servant_of,my you(ms) chosen,you and=not rejected,you )
These two lines mean basically the same thing and emphasize that Yahweh is bringing the people of Israel back to their land from distant countries.
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
(Occurrence 0) the ends of the earth
(Some words not found in UHB: which/who took,you from,ends_of the=earth/land and,from,farthest_corners_of,its called,you and,said to/for=yourself(m) servant_of,my you(ms) chosen,you and=not rejected,you )
The places on the earth that are very far away are spoken of as if they were the places where the earth ends. See how you translated this in [Isaiah 41:5](../41/05.md). AT “the farthest places of the earth”
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism
(Occurrence 0) I have chosen you and not rejected you
(Some words not found in UHB: which/who took,you from,ends_of the=earth/land and,from,farthest_corners_of,its called,you and,said to/for=yourself(m) servant_of,my you(ms) chosen,you and=not rejected,you )
These two phrases mean basically the same thing. The second states in negative terms what the first states in positive terms. (See also: figs-litotes)
41:9 I have chosen you restates 41:8 to emphasize God’s commitment and faithfulness to his people Israel, who had not been faithful to him.
• not throw you away: Because of the Exile, the people felt that God had rejected them (see 49:21; 54:6). However, God had good purposes for them.
OET (OET-LV) Whom took_you from_ends_of the_earth/land and_from_farthest_corners_of_its called_you and_said to/for_yourself(m) servant_of_my you chosen_you and_not rejected_you.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
