BrTrBut when the righteous man turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, according to all the transgressions which the transgressor has wrought, none of his righteousness which he has wrought shall be at all remembered: in his trespass wherein he has trespassed, and in his sins wherein he has sinned, in them shall he die.

ULTBut if the righteous person turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity and practices abominations like all the abominations that the wicked person does, then will he live? All the righteousness that he had done will not be called to mind when he betrays me in his treason. So he will die in the sins that he committed.

USTBut if a righteous person stops doing right things and starts to commit sins and does the same disgusting things that wicked people do, I will certainly not allow him to remain alive. I will not think about the righteous things that he did previously. Because he did not faithfully do what pleases me, and because of all the sins that he has committed, he will certainly die.

BSB  § But if a righteous man turns from his righteousness and practices iniquity, committing the same abominations as the wicked, will he live? None of the righteous acts he did will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness and sin he has committed, he will die.

OEBBut if the righteous turn from his righteousness and commit iniquity, and practice all the abominations which the wicked do, none of the righteous deeds which he has done shall be remembered. For the treason which he has committed, and for the sin of which he has been guilty, he shall die.

WEBBE“But when the righteous turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, should he live? None of his righteous deeds that he has done will be remembered. In his trespass that he has trespassed, and in his sin that he has sinned, in them he shall die.

WMBB (Same as above)

NET“But if a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and practices wrongdoing according to all the abominable practices the wicked carry out, will he live? All his righteous acts will not be remembered; because of the unfaithful acts he has done and the sin he has committed, he will die.

LSVAnd in the turning back of the righteous from his righteousness,
And he has done perversity,
According to all the abominations
That the wicked has done,
Does he then live? All his righteous deeds that he has done are not remembered,
For his trespass that he has trespassed,
And for his sin that he has sinned,
For them he dies.

FBVBut if someone who is living according to what's right stops and does wrong, doing the same offensive things as the wicked, will that person live? Of course not! In fact, all the good things they did previously will be forgotten. That person will die because of their betrayal of me and the sins they've committed.

T4TBut if a righteous person stops doing righteous things and starts to commit sins and does the same detestable things that wicked people do, he will certainly not [RHQ] be allowed to remain alive. I will not think about the righteous things that he did previously. Because he did not faithfullydo what pleases me, and because of all the sins that he has committed, he will be executed.

LEBAnd when the righteous turns[fn] from his righteousness, so that[fn] he does injustice, and does all of the detestable things that the wicked do, then[fn] will he live because of all of his righteousness[fn] that he did? Those things will not be remembered because of his infidelity that he displayed, and because of his sin that he committed.[fn] Through[fn] them he shall die.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

General Information:

Yahweh gives an example of a man who turns from righteousness to wickedness.

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion

(Occurrence 0) then will he live?

(Some words not found in UHB: and,in/on/at/with,turns law-abiding/just from,righteousness,his and,commits injustice according_to,all the,detestable_things which/who he/it_had_made the,wicked he/it_made/did and,live all/each/any/every righteous_deeds,his which/who he/it_had_made not remembered in/on/at/with,treachery,his which/who guilty and,in/on/at/with,sin,his which/who committed in/on/at/with,them die )

Yahweh asks this rhetorical question to emphasize the negative answer. Alternate translation: “then he will surely not live.”

The idiom “call to mind” means to remember. If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language.
