TSNTyndale Study Notes:

32:11-12 The human agent of God’s wrath, the sword of the king of Babylon, was coming to shatter the power of Egypt once and for all. This would be an even greater destruction than at the time of the first Passover, when only the firstborn male humans and animals of Egypt died (Exod 12:29).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

(Occurrence 0) each warrior a terror of nations

(Some words not found in UHB: in/on/at/with,swords mighty fall hordes,your ruthless nations all,them and,devastate DOM pride Miʦrayim/(Egypt) and,destroyed all/each/any/every hordes,its )

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea behind the word terror, you can express the same idea with a verbal form such as “terrifies” or “afraid.” Alternate translation: “Each warrior terrifies the nations” or “each one of them makes the nations afraid”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

(Occurrence 0) will devastate the pride of Egypt

(Some words not found in UHB: in/on/at/with,swords mighty fall hordes,your ruthless nations all,them and,devastate DOM pride Miʦrayim/(Egypt) and,destroyed all/each/any/every hordes,its )

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea behind the word pride, you can express the same idea with a verbal form such as “proud.” Alternate translation: “will cause the Egyptians to no longer be proud”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / hyperbole

(Occurrence 0) destroy all of its multitudes

(Some words not found in UHB: in/on/at/with,swords mighty fall hordes,your ruthless nations all,them and,devastate DOM pride Miʦrayim/(Egypt) and,destroyed all/each/any/every hordes,its )

Here “all” is probably a generalization that refers to the killing of large numbers of soldiers, and perhaps other people also. Alternate translation: “kill a very large number of people who live in Egypt”
