Note: This view shows ‘verses’ which are not natural language units and hence sometimes only part of a sentence will be visible. Normally the OET discourages the reading of individual ‘verses’, but this view is only designed as a tool for doing comparisons of different translations. Click on any Bible version abbreviation down the left-hand side to see the verse in more of its context. The OET segments on this page are still very early looks into the unfinished texts of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check these texts in advance before using in public.

TSNTyndale Study Notes:

47:7-10 When Jacob entered Pharaoh’s court and when he left, he blessed Pharaoh, an indication of Jacob’s position as God’s representative (see Heb 7:7). God had promised that he would bless those who blessed Abraham’s family (Gen 12:2-3), so he now blessed Pharaoh and Egypt.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

וַיְבָ֥רֶךְ יַעֲקֹ֖ב אֶת־פַּרְעֹ֑ה

and=he/it_blessed Yaakob DOM Parˊoh

It was customary in Hebrew to use the blessing “peace be to you” both when greeting and when leaving someone. See how you translated blessed in verse 7. Alternate translation: [Then Jacob said goodbye to Pharaoh with a blessing]

וַיֵּצֵ֖א מִלִּפְנֵ֥י פַרְעֹֽה

and=he/it_went_out from=to/for=face/front/presence Parˊoh

Alternate translation: [and left his presence]
