(And præcinebant mulieres, ludentes, atque saying: [Percussit Saul mille, and David ten millia.] )
18.7 Percussit Saul, etc. Hoc fuit seminarium odii contra David. Sic Judæi audientes Christum quem crucifixerant, in ecclesiis prædicari, et victoriam qua hostem antiquum vicit et credentes in laude ejus gratulari, graviter tulerunt. Saul mille. Scilicet eos qui fugientes occisi sunt. David decem millia. Scilicet Philisthæum qui, uno dejecto, omnes in fugam misit.
18.7 Percussit Saul, etc. This fuit seminarium odii on_the_contrary David. So Yudæi hearing Christum which crucifixerant, in assemblies/churches prædicari, and victoriam which hostem antiquum vicit and credentes in laude his gratulari, graviter they_took. Saul mille. Scilicet them who fugientes occisi are. David ten millia. Scilicet Philisthæum qui, uno deyecto, everyone in fugam misit.
18:7 thousands . . . ten thousands: This dramatic increase in number between two lines of Hebrew poetry was a way of intensifying the statement (cp. Deut 32:30; Ps 91:7). Because of his great military victories, David was beginning to eclipse Saul (1 Sam 18:16, 30; 21:11).
