uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: grammar-connect-words-phrases

וַיִּבְרָ֨א אֱלֹהִ֤ים

(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_created ʼElohīm DOM the=humankind in=his/its=image in=(the)_image ʼElohīm he/it_created DOM=him/it male and=female he/it_created DOM=them )

In this verse God does what he said he was going to do ([verse 26](../01/26.md)). Make sure your translation does not sound like God created mankind twice. Also see how you translated created in [verses 1](../01/01.md) and [21](../01/21.md). Alternate translation: [So God made]

אֶת־הָֽאָדָם֙

DOM (Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_created ʼElohīm DOM the=humankind in=his/its=image in=(the)_image ʼElohīm he/it_created DOM=him/it male and=female he/it_created DOM=them )

Be consistent here with how you translated this term in [verse 26](../01/26.md). Alternate translation: [mankind]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism

בְּצֶ֥לֶם אֱלֹהִ֖ים בָּרָ֣א אֹת֑וֹ

(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_created ʼElohīm DOM the=humankind in=his/its=image in=(the)_image ʼElohīm he/it_created DOM=him/it male and=female he/it_created DOM=them )

This clause is the second half of a chiasm (an inverted parallelism) that repeats the first part of [verse 27](../01/27.md) in reverse order, to emphasize that it was in God’s image that human beings were created. Alternate translation: [Yes he made them in his image] or [Indeed he created them to be like himself] or [Yes, God made them to be similar to himself in many ways]

Note 3 topic: writing-pronouns

בְּצֶ֥לֶם אֱלֹהִ֖ים בָּרָ֣א אֹת֑וֹ

(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_created ʼElohīm DOM the=humankind in=his/its=image in=(the)_image ʼElohīm he/it_created DOM=him/it male and=female he/it_created DOM=them )

The pronoun him refers to the collective noun man, which in this case refers to human beings in general, not just one person.

זָכָ֥ר וּנְקֵבָ֖ה בָּרָ֥א אֹתָֽם

male and=female (Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_created ʼElohīm DOM the=humankind in=his/its=image in=(the)_image ʼElohīm he/it_created DOM=him/it male and=female he/it_created DOM=them )

The phrase male and female comes first in the Hebrew text in order to emphasize it. Do what is accurate and natural in your language. Also make sure your translation of this verse does not sound like God is both male and female. Alternate translation: [He also made them to be male or female]
