OET (OET-LV) With whom did_he_take_counsel and_did_he_give_him_understanding and_did_he_teach_him (in)_the_path_of justice and_did_he_teach_him knowledge and_the_way_of understanding(s) will_he_inform_him.
OET (OET-RV) Who did he ask for advice?
⇔ ≈ Who informed him about something?
⇔ Who taught him how to judge fairly,
⇔ ≈ and taught him knowledge and helped him to understand something?
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion
אֶת מִ֤י נוֹעָץ֙ וַיְבִינֵ֔הוּ וַֽיְלַמְּדֵ֖הוּ בְּאֹ֣רַח מִשְׁפָּ֑ט וַיְלַמְּדֵ֣הוּ דַ֔עַת וְדֶ֥רֶךְ תְּבוּנ֖וֹת יוֹדִיעֶֽנּוּ
DOM who? consult and,did,he_give_him_understanding? and,did,he_teach_him? (in)_[the],path_of justice and,did,he_teach_him? knowledge and_[the],way_of understanding will,he_inform_him?
Isaiah is using the question form to emphasize that no one ever counseled or taught Yahweh, because his wisdom and knowledge come from himself alone. If a speaker of your language would not use the question form for that purpose, you could translate this as a statement or as an exclamation. Alternate translation: [No one counseled him, and no one made him understand and taught him in the path of justice and taught him knowledge and made him know the way of understanding.]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
אֶת מִ֤י נוֹעָץ֙
DOM who? consult
The expression was he counseled is a passive verbal form. If it would be unnatural to use that form, you could express the idea in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: [What person counseled him]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
בְּאֹ֣רַח מִשְׁפָּ֑ט
(in)_[the],path_of justice
Here the speaker is speaking of acting justly as if it were a path that a person walks along. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [ how to act justly]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
מִשְׁפָּ֑ט
justice
If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of justice, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [what is just]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
דַ֔עַת
knowledge
If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of knowledge, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [taught him what to know]
Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
וְדֶ֥רֶךְ תְּבוּנ֖וֹת
and_[the],way_of understanding
Here Isaiah is speaking of how to understand things as if understanding were a way or path that a person walks along. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [how to understand things]
Note 7 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
וְדֶ֥רֶךְ תְּבוּנ֖וֹת
and_[the],way_of understanding
If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of understanding, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [how to understand]

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
