TSNTyndale Study Notes:

1:6 Jeremiah was young (probably a teenager).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

(Occurrence 0) Ah, Lord Yahweh

(Some words not found in UHB: and, said ah my=master GOD see/lo/see! not I_know speak that/for/because/then/when youth I )

Here “Ah” shows Jeremiah’s fear of doing what God has said.

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / hyperbole

(Occurrence 0) I do not know how to speak

(Some words not found in UHB: and, said ah my=master GOD see/lo/see! not I_know speak that/for/because/then/when youth I )

Jeremiah may have been exaggerating to show his fear of speaking in public. Alternate translation: “I do not know how to speak in public” or “I do not know how to make announcements to people”
