BrTr And the Lord said to me, Thou hast well seen: for I have watched over my words to perform them.
ULT And Yahweh said to me, “You have done well to see, for I am watching over my word to do it.”
UST Yahweh said, “That is correct. And because the word for ‘almond’ resembles the word for ‘watching’, it means that I am watching what will happen, and I will make certain that what I have said to you about destroying nations will happen.”
BSB § “You have observed correctly,” said the LORD, “for I am watching [fn] over My word to accomplish it.”
1:12 The Hebrew for watching sounds like the Hebrew for almond tree.
OEB "A branch of an almond tree," I answered. "Thou hast seen truly," said Jehovah," for I am watching over My purpose, to perform it."
WEBBE Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well; for I watch over my word to perform it.”
WMBB (Same as above)
NET Then the Lord said, “You have observed correctly. This means I am watching to make sure my threats are carried out.”
LSV And YHWH says to me, “You have seen well: for I am watching over My word to do it.”
FBV “That's right, because I am watching[fn] to make sure what I say happens,” the Lord said.
1:12 In Hebrew, the almond tree is called “wakeful” because it is the first tree to bloom in spring.
T4T Yahweh said, “That is correct. And because the word for ‘almond’ resembles the word for ‘watching’, it means that I am watching what will happen, and I will make certain that what I have said to you about destroying nations will happen.”
LEB Then Yahweh said to me, “You did well to see, for I am watching over my word to perform it.”
BBE Then the Lord said to me, You have seen well: for I keep watch over my word to give effect to it.
