OET (OET-LV) And_you_journeyed to/for_the_king with_oil and_you_increased perfumes_of_your and_you_sent envoys_of_your to from_a_distance and_you_showed_abasement to Shəʼōl.
OET (OET-RV) You took oil and travelled to the king,
⇔
along with lots of perfumes.
⇔
Then you sent your ambassadors to distant places,
⇔
and even descended to the world of the dead.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
וַתָּשֻׁ֤רִי לַמֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ בַּשֶּׁ֔מֶן וַתַּרְבִּ֖י רִקֻּחָ֑יִךְ
and,you_journeyed to/for=the_king with,oil and,you_increased perfumes_of,your
Yahweh is speaking of the people’s worship of idols as if they were bringing gifts of oil and perfumes . Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [And you come to Molech with oil, and you put on many perfumes to worship idols]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / yousingular
וַתָּשֻׁ֤רִי לַמֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ בַּשֶּׁ֔מֶן
and,you_journeyed to/for=the_king with,oil
The word you is singular here because Yahweh is addressing the people of Israel as a single entity. So use the singular form in your translation if your language marks that distinction.
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / merism
וַתְּשַׁלְּחִ֤י צִרַ֨יִךְ֙ עַד מֵ֣רָחֹ֔ק וַתַּשְׁפִּ֖ילִי עַד שְׁאֽוֹל
and,you_sent envoys_of,your until from,a_distance and,you_showed_abasement until shəʼōl
Yahweh is referring to the extreme lengths the people go to in seeking help from other gods by naming two extremes, faraway and Sheol. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [And you go to any length to seek other gods, even sending your envoys to distant lands and descending to the realm of the dead]
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
