UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion

(Occurrence 0) are you not God in heaven? Are you not the ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations?

(Some words not found in UHB: and,said YHWH god ancestors,our ?,not you(ms) he/it ʼElohīm in/on/at/with,heaven and=you(ms) rule in/on/at/with,all kingdoms the=nations and,in/on/at/with,hand,your ability and,might and,no against,you to,stand )

Jehoshaphat uses this rhetorical question to emphasize that God is in heaven and his authority over all things. This question can be written as statement. Alternate translation: “you are indeed God in heaven and the ruler over all the kings of the earth.”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / doublet

(Occurrence 0) Power and might are in your hand

(Some words not found in UHB: and,said YHWH god ancestors,our ?,not you(ms) he/it ʼElohīm in/on/at/with,heaven and=you(ms) rule in/on/at/with,all kingdoms the=nations and,in/on/at/with,hand,your ability and,might and,no against,you to,stand )

The words “Power” and “might” mean basically the same thing and emphasize the greatness of Yahweh’s power. The word “hand” refers to possession. Alternate translation: “You possess great power” or “You have great power and might” (See also: figs-synecdoche)
