OET (OET-RV) Then Lavan responded and told Yacob, “These women are my daughters, and the children are my grandchildren, and the flocks are my flocks. Everything that you see here belongs to me. But what can I do today about these daughters of mine or about their children that they gave birth to?
Note 1 topic: writing-quotations
וַיַּ֨עַן לָבָ֜ן וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֶֽל יַעֲקֹ֗ב
and,answered Lāⱱān and=he/it_said to/near Yaakob
Alternate translation: “Laban replied to Jacob,”

the,daughters daughters,my and,the,children children,my
Alternate translation: “These are my daughters and my grandchildren,”
וְהַצֹּ֣אן צֹאנִ֔י
and,the,flocks flocks,my
Alternate translation: “and these flocks also belong to me.”
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / hyperbole
וְכֹ֛ל אֲשֶׁר אַתָּ֥ה רֹאֶ֖ה לִי
and=all/each/any/every which/who you(ms) see to=me
Laban is lying or exaggerating here to make it sound like he was wronged, when actually he is the one who was dishonest in his dealings with Jacob. Alternate translation: “In fact, everything that you see here is mine!” or “Yes, everything that is here with you is actually mine!”
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion
וְלִבְנֹתַ֞י מָֽה־אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֤ה לָאֵ֨לֶּה֙ הַיּ֔וֹם א֥וֹ לִבְנֵיהֶ֖ן אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָלָֽדוּ
and,about,daughters,mine what do for,these the=day or for,children,their which/who borne
Laban uses this rhetorical question to express his emotions and emphasize that there is nothing that he can do. Consider whether or not a rhetorical question fits well here in your language. Alternate translation: “But there is nothing I can do now to keep my daughters and grandchildren from leaving!”
31:43-44 Laban pushed for a treaty to settle the dispute—he felt vulnerable, so he wanted to secure the borders. Jacob did not need a treaty, since God had provided for him and protected him.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
