uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

עַל כַּפַּ֖יִם חַקֹּתִ֑יךְ

on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in palms I,have_inscribed_you

Here Yahweh is speaking of remembering Zion permanently as if she were something he had inscribed on his hands, saying on my palms I have inscribed you. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [I will never forget you]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / yousingular

חַקֹּתִ֑יךְ

(Some words not found in UHB: if on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in palms I,have_inscribed_you walls_of,your [are]_before,me continually )

In verses 16-23, the word you is feminine singular because it refers to Zion, which is being personified as a woman. So use the singular form in your translation if your language marks that distinction, and use the feminine form if your language marks that distinction.

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

חוֹמֹתַ֥יִךְ

walls_of,your

Here, your walls represents “your city.” If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [your people]
