Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

שֶׁ֣בַע שִׁבֳּלִ֔ים דַּקּ֖וֹת וּשְׁדוּפֹ֣ת קָדִ֑ים

seven ears thin and,scorched east_wind

This wind was from the desert in the east, so it was hot and dry. Alternate translation: “seven shriveled heads of grain that were dried out by the hot east wind” or “seven shriveled heads of grain that the hot east wind had dried out”

צֹמְח֖וֹת

sprouted_up

Alternate translation: “grew up” or “were growing”

Note 2 topic: writing-pronouns

אַחֲרֵיהֶֽן

after,them

Consider whether it is better in your language to refer to the first heads here with a pronoun (them) or a noun phrase. Alternate translation: “next to them on the same stalk” or “on the same stalk beside the well-formed heads.”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

41:1-46 God had used two dreams to identify Joseph as a leader among his brothers (37:5-11). He used two dreams to test Joseph’s faith in prison (40:5-14). Now he would use two dreams to elevate Joseph from prison to preeminence. Joseph had repeatedly proven faithful in small matters; now he would be put in charge of great things.
