uW Translation Notes:

וְהִנֵּ֞ה

and=see/lo/see!

See how you translated verse 3, which is similar to the first half of verse 19. Alternate translation: “Then suddenly,” or “Next I saw that”

שֶֽׁבַע פָּר֤וֹת אֲחֵרוֹת֙ עֹל֣וֹת אַחֲרֵיהֶ֔ן

seven cows other came_up after,them

Alternate translation: “seven other cows came up out of the river behind the first cows;”

For some languages it is more natural to put this information earlier in this sentence and say, “Then behold, seven poor/weak, very sickly-looking, scrawny cows came up out of the river behind the first cows/ones.” Do what is best in your language. Alternate translation: “they were in horrible condition, very sickly-looking and scrawny”

Alternate translation: “In fact, I have not seen”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

41:1-46 God had used two dreams to identify Joseph as a leader among his brothers (37:5-11). He used two dreams to test Joseph’s faith in prison (40:5-14). Now he would use two dreams to elevate Joseph from prison to preeminence. Joseph had repeatedly proven faithful in small matters; now he would be put in charge of great things.
