Here Isaiah is speaking of Judah’s defenses as if they were a covering. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [And the enemy removed Judah’s defensive covering]

The verb that the ULT translates as you looked could be third-person feminine singular or second-person masculine singular. Those two forms coincide in the case of this verb. If it is feminine singular, then it is a personification of the city of Jerusalem as a woman, as in verses 1–3 and 7. If it is the masculine singular form of “you,” it would be addressing a representative Israelite. If a translation of the Bible exists in your region, you may wish to use the reading that it uses. If a translation of the Bible does not exist in your region, you may wish to use the reading of the ULT. If you do, use the singular form of “you” in your translation if your language marks that distinction, and use the masculine form if your language marks that distinction. Alternate translation: [and she looked]
