UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: translate-kinship

וַיִּשָּׂ֣א עֵינָ֗יו וַיַּ֞רְא אֶת־בִּנְיָמִ֣ין אָחִיו֮

and,lifted_up eyes,his and=he/it_saw DOM Binyāmīn his/its=woman

Benjamin was younger than Joseph. Also, consider again how you translated the idiom “lifted … eyes” in the book of Genesis. See Gen 13:10, 14; 18:2; 22:4, 13; 24:63-64; 31:10; 33:1, 5; 37:25; 39:7; 43:29. Alternate translation: “Then Joseph looked up and saw his brother Benjamin,” or “When Joseph looked around at them all, he saw his brother Benjamin,”

בֶּן אִמּוֹ֒

son_of his/its=mother

Alternate translation: “who was the only other son of his own mother,”

Note 2 topic: writing-quotations

וַיֹּ֗אמֶר

and=he/it_said

Alternate translation: “and he asked them,”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion

הֲזֶה֙ אֲחִיכֶ֣ם הַקָּטֹ֔ן

?,this brother,your_all's the=small(sg)

This question could be an actual question or a rhetorical question. The fact that Joseph does not wait for an answer suggests that this is a rhetorical question, especially since he already realized that the new brother in the group was Benjamin (verse 16). Alternate translation: “So this young man must be your youngest brother” or “I suppose this young man is your youngest brother”

אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֲמַרְתֶּ֖ם אֵלָ֑י

which/who told to,me

Make sure that your punctuation here fits with the way you translated this sentence, either as a question or a statement.

אֱלֹהִ֥ים יָחְנְךָ֖

ʼElohīm gracious,you

See how you translated “God has been gracious to …” in Gen 33:11. Also see how you translated “grace” in 24:12, 14 ,27, 49; 39:21. Alternate translation: “I pray that God will be gracious to you,”

בְּנִֽי

son,my

The phrase my son is a kind way to address a man who is younger or of lower status; it does not mean that Benjamin was Joseph’s actual son. Also, for some languages it is necessary to put this address first in this quote. Do what is natural in your language.
