BrTrFor I am beginning to afflict the city whereon my name is called, and ye shall by no means be held guiltless: for I am calling a sword upon all that dwell upon the earth.

ULTThe Chaldeans who are fighting against this city will come and set fire to this city and burn it, along with the houses on the roofs of which the people worshiped Baal and poured out drink offerings to other gods in order to provoke me.

32.29 Et venient Chaldæi. Aquila melius, ingredientur: non enim absentes erant, ut venirent qui obsiderent civitatem; verbum autem Hebræum et venient, et ingredientur sonat. Et domos in quarum domatibus. Quomodo periturus scribitur mundus, juxta illud: Cœlum et terra transibunt, eo quod in maligno positus sit, sic et domus ipsa, et loca, in quibus flagitia facta sunt, iræ Dei subjacebunt.

32:26-41 The Lord responded to Jeremiah’s concern (32:25) with several affirmations. The Lord had decided on his course of action, the events of the immediate and long-range future had been established, and real doom was hanging over Jerusalem.
