עֵ֕קֶב אֲשֶׁר
because which/who
Verse 5 gives the reason that Yahweh will do everything that he says in verses 3 and 4. Consider whether or not it is better in your language to begin a new sentence here. Alternate translation: “all because”
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
שָׁמַ֥ע אַבְרָהָ֖ם בְּקֹלִ֑י
obeyed ʼAⱱrāhām in/on/at/with,voice,me
The phrase my voice stands for what Yahweh said to Abraham and also represents Yahweh himself. Alternate translation: “Abraham always did what I told him”
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism
וַיִּשְׁמֹר֙ מִשְׁמַרְתִּ֔י מִצְוֺתַ֖י חֻקּוֹתַ֥י וְתוֹרֹתָֽי
and,kept charge,my commandments,my statutes,my and,laws,my
This clause is another way of saying obeyed my voice (found in the previous clause), and emphasizes that Abraham always obeyed God in everything. Notice that the terms in this clause have much overlap in meaning. Alternate translation: “Yes, he kept all my requirements, including all my commands, decrees, and laws.”
26:1-35 In this digression from Jacob’s story, Isaac’s prosperity (ch 26) shows that the blessing had passed to him (cp. 25:11) despite his failures of faith.
OET (OET-LV) Consequence that he_listened ʼAⱱrāhām in/on/at/with_voice_me and_kept charge_my commandments_my statutes_my and_laws_my.
OET (OET-RV) because Abraham obeyed me by keeping my requirements, my commands, my decrees, and my laws.”
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
