uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

שְׁמָמָ֔ה

desolate

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of desolation, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [is deserted]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

זָרִים֙ אֹכְלִ֣ים אֹתָ֔הּ

foreigners devour DOM=her/it

Isaiah is speaking as if the destruction of the land was from the strangers devouring it like food. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [strangers are destroying it]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / simile

לְנֶגְדְּכֶם֙ זָרִים֙ אֹכְלִ֣ים אֹתָ֔הּ וּשְׁמָמָ֖ה כְּמַהְפֵּכַ֥ת זָרִֽים

to,before,you(pl) foreigners devour DOM=her/it and,desolation [is]_like_[the],overthrow_of foreigners

The point of this comparison is that just as the overthrow of strangers is complete and devastating, so is the desolation of Israel’s land. If it would be helpful in your language, you could make this point explicitly. Alternate translation: [it is as completely devastated as a land overthrown by strangers]
