ULT For thus says Yahweh to me,
 ⇔ “As a lion growls,
⇔ or a young lion over its prey,
⇔ when a group of shepherds
⇔ is called out against it,
⇔ it is not afraid at their voice,
⇔ and does not cower at their clamor—
⇔ thus Yahweh of hosts will descend
⇔ to muster on Mount Zion and on its hill.

UST But this is what Yahweh said to me:
⇔ “When a lion stands and growls over the body of a sheep that he has killed,
⇔ even if a large group of shepherds comes to chase away the lion,
⇔ even if they shout loudly,
⇔ the lion will not be afraid and will not leave.
⇔ Similarly, I, Yahweh, commander of the angel armies, will come down
⇔ to fight my enemies on Mount Zion,
⇔ and nothing will stop me.

BSB § For this is what the LORD has said to me:
 ⇔ “Like a lion roaring
⇔ or a young lion over its prey—
⇔ and though a band of shepherds is called out against it,
⇔ it is not terrified by their shouting
⇔ or subdued by their clamor—
⇔ so the LORD of Hosts will come down
⇔ to do battle on Mount Zion and its heights.

OEB For thus has the Lord declared to me:
⇔ like as a lion growls,
⇔ or a young lion over his prey,
⇔ when against him the shepherds are summoned
⇔ to come in all their strength –
⇔ at the shout he is undismayed,
⇔ at their noise he is nothing daunted –
⇔ so the Lord of Hosts will come down
⇔ to fight against Mount Zion,
 ⇔ and against the hill thereof;

WEB  ⇔ For Yahweh says to me,
⇔ “As the lion and the young lion growling over his prey,
⇔ if a multitude of shepherds is called together against him,
⇔ will not be dismayed at their voice,
⇔ nor abase himself for their noise,
⇔ so Yahweh of Armies will come down to fight on Mount Zion and on its heights.

WMB  ⇔ For the LORD says to me,
⇔ “As the lion and the young lion growling over his prey,
⇔ if a multitude of shepherds is called together against him,
⇔ will not be dismayed at their voice,
⇔ nor abase himself for their noise,
⇔ so the LORD of Hosts will come down to fight on Mount Zion and on its heights.

NET Indeed, this is what the Lord says to me:
⇔ “The Lord will be like a growling lion,
⇔ like a young lion growling over its prey.
⇔ Though a whole group of shepherds gathers against it,
⇔ it is not afraid of their shouts
⇔ or intimidated by their yelling.
⇔ In this same way the Lord who commands armies will descend
⇔ to do battle on Mount Zion and on its hill.

LSV For thus said YHWH to me: “As the lion and the young lion growl over his prey,
Against whom a multitude of shepherds is called,
He is not frightened from their voice,
And he is not humbled from their noise; So YHWH of Hosts comes down
To war on Mount Zion, and on her height.

FBV This is what the Lord told me: It's like a young lion growling as it stands over its prey. Even though a lot of shepherds come to protest, it's not frightened off by their shouting or intimidated by all their noise. In the same way the Lord Almighty will come down to fight on Mount Zion.

T4T ¶ But this is what Yahweh said to me:
⇔ “When a huge lion stands over the body of a sheep that he has killed and growls,
⇔ even if a large group of shepherds comes to chase/shoo away the lion,
⇔ even if they shout loudly,
⇔ the lion will not be afraid and will not leave.
⇔ Similarly, I, the Commander of the armies of angels, will come down
⇔ to fight my enemies on Zion Hill,
⇔ and nothing will hinder me.

LEB• For Yahweh said this to me:“As which a lion growls •  and a young lion over its prey
¶ when a full group[fn] of shepherds is called against him, • it is not terrified by their voice, •  and to their noise it does not respond, •  so Yahweh of hosts will come down to fight upon Mount Zion •  and upon its hill.

?:? Literally “fullness”

BBE For the Lord has said to me, As a lion, or a young lion, makes an angry noise over his food, and if a band of herdsmen come out against him, he will not be in fear of their voices, or give up his food for their noise: so the Lord of armies will come down to make war against Mount Zion and its hill.

WBS For thus hath the LORD spoken to me, As the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so will the LORD of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof.

KJB For thus hath the LORD spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the LORD of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof.[fn]

BB For thus hath the Lorde spoken vnto me: Lyke as the lion and lions whelpe roareth vpon the pray that he hath gotten, and is not afraide though the multitude of shepheardes crye out vpon him, neither be abashed for all the heape of them: so shall the Lorde of hoastes come downe to fight for mount Sion, and defende his hyll.
