OET (OET-LV) I I_have_stirred_him_up in_righteousness and_all ways_of_his I_will_make_smooth he he_will_build city_of_my and_exile[s]_of_my he_will_let_go not for_price and_not for_a_bribe YHWH he_says soldiers/messengers.
OET (OET-RV) I stirred Cyrus up to do what’s right,
⇔
and I’ll smooth out his paths ahead of him.
⇔
He’ll be the one to build my city, and he’ll release my exiles—
⇔
not for a ransom or for a bribe.
§
Commander-in-chief Yahweh says that.
Note 1 topic: writing-pronouns
אָנֹכִי֙ הַעִירֹתִ֣הֽוּ
I I,have_stirred_him_up
Yahweh is stating the pronoun I separately, even though the verb translated as have awakened already includes this meaning. He is doing that to emphasize that he is the one who has awakened him. If a speaker of your language would use an explicit pronoun for the same purpose, you may want to use that construction in your translation. If not, your language may have other ways of showing the meaning here. Alternate translation: [I myself have awakened him]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
הַעִירֹתִ֣הֽוּ בְצֶ֔דֶק
I,have_stirred_him_up in,righteousness
Yahweh is using awakened him in righteousness as a common expression of the culture to mean “summoned and empowered him to accomplish what is right.” If this phrase does not have that meaning for your readers, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [I have roused him to carry out my righteous purpose] or [I have appointed him to do what is right]
Note 3 topic: writing-pronouns
הַעִירֹתִ֣הֽוּ
I,have_stirred_him_up
The pronoun him refers to Cyrus. It may be helpful to clarify this for your readers. Alternate translation: [I have awakened Cyrus]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
בְצֶ֔דֶק
in,righteousness
If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of righteousness, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [in doing things rightly]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
וְכָל־דְּרָכָ֖יו אֲיַשֵּׁ֑ר
and=all (Some words not found in UHB: I I,have_stirred_him_up in,righteousness and=all ways_of,his make_~_smooth he/it build city_of,my and,exile[s]_of,my set_~_free not for,price and=not for,a_bribe he/it_had_said YHWH armies/messengers )
Yahweh is using and I will straighten all of his ways as a common expression of the culture to mean “I will remove all obstacles that would prevent him from doing what I have appointed him to do.” If this phrase does not have that meaning for your readers, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [and I will clear every obstacle from his path] or [and I will ensure he succeeds in all I have appointed him to do]
Note 6 topic: writing-pronouns
הֽוּא־יִבְנֶ֤ה
he/it build
Yahweh is stating the pronoun he separately, even though the verb translated as he will build already includes this meaning. He is doing that to emphasize that Cyrus will do Yahweh’s will. If a speaker of your language would use an explicit pronoun for the same purpose, you may want to use that construction in your translation. If not, your language may have other ways of showing the meaning here. Alternate translation: [It is Cyrus who will build]
Note 7 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
וְגָלוּתִ֣י
and,exile[s]_of,my
If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of captivity, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [and my captive people]
Note 8 topic: writing-quotations
אָמַ֖ר יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת
he/it_had_said YHWH armies/messengers
The phrase says Yahweh of Armies indicates that the preceding words are a direct quotation from Yahweh. In your translation, use a natural way of marking direct quotations in your language.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
