Click on any Bible version abbreviation down the left-hand side to see the verse in more of its context. The OET segments on this page are still very early looks into the unfinished texts of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check these texts in advance before using in public.

וַיְהִ֗י עֵ֚ר בְּכ֣וֹר יְהוּדָ֔ה
and=he/it_was ˊĒr firstborn Yehuda
Some languages leave the firstborn of Judah implied here since Er was already called the firstborn in verse 6. The Hebrew text repeats that information here to emphasize Er’s relationship to Judah in the following events. Do what is best in your language.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
וַיְהִ֗י & רַ֖ע בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה
and=he/it_was & evil in/on=both_eyes_of YHWH
The Hebrew text does not specify what Er had done wrong, so neither should your translation. See how you translated the idiom in the eyes of Yahweh in Gen 6:8. Alternate translation: “did something that Yahweh judged to be evil”
וַיְמִתֵ֖הוּ יְהוָֽה
and,put_~_todeath,him YHWH
Alternate translation: “so Yahweh took his life.”
