BrTr But now hear these words, thou luxurious one, who art the one that sits at ease, that is secure, that says in her heart, I am, and there is not another; I shall not sit a widow, neither shall I know bereavement.
ULT ⇔ “And now, hear this, overindulged,
⇔ who dwell in confidence,
⇔ who say in your heart,
⇔ ‘It is I, and none else;
⇔ I will not sit as a widow,

UST You people of Babylon who enjoy pleasures and who live in luxury,
⇔ listen to this:
⇔ You act as through you were gods, saying, “I am special, and there is no one better than I am,”
⇔ None of our women will never become widows,
⇔ and none of our children will never be killed in wars.’
BSB ⇔ So now hear this,
⇔ O lover of luxury who sits securely,
⇔ who says to herself,
⇔ ‘I am, and there is none besides me.
⇔ I will never be a widow
⇔ or know the loss of children.’
OEB ⇔ Hear this now, lady of pleasure,
⇔ who sits so securely,

FBV Now listen to this, you sensual woman,[fn] sitting there so sure of yourself, saying to yourself, “I am supreme[fn]—there's nobody besides me. I shall never be a widow or experience the loss of my children.”
47:8 Though the image of a woman continues, the subject is the kingdom of Babylon.
47:8 “I am supreme”: the Hebrew simply has the emphatic “I.”
T4T ⇔ You people of Babylon who enjoy pleasure and sex,
⇔ listen to this:
⇔ You enjoy a luxurious life and you feel secure.
⇔ You say, ‘We are like gods,
⇔ and there are no others like us.
⇔ Our women will never become widows,
⇔ and our children will never be killed in wars.’
LEB • one who sits[fn] in security, who says[fn] in her heart, “I am, and besides me there is no one. • I shall not sit as a widow, • and I shall not know the loss of children.”
BBE So now take note of this, you who are given up to pleasure, living without fear of evil, saying in your heart, I am, and there is no one like me; I will never be a widow, or have my children taken from me.
