TSNTyndale Study Notes:

47:5-11 Babylon’s confidence and arrogance were well known (see 14:13-17; Dan 4:30). All of this nation’s charms, magic, and wisdom were useless against the disaster decreed for it.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

(Occurrence 0) daughter of the Chaldeans

(Some words not found in UHB: sit in_silence and,go in/on/at/with,darkness daughter_of Kasdim that/for/because/then/when not longer called to/for=you(fs) mistress kingdoms )

This phrase refers to the city, Babylon, which is spoken of as if it were a daughter. That the city is a “daughter” indicates how the Chaldeans think fondly of her. See how you translated this phrase in Isaiah 47:1.

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

(Occurrence 0) for you will no longer be called

(Some words not found in UHB: sit in_silence and,go in/on/at/with,darkness daughter_of Kasdim that/for/because/then/when not longer called to/for=you(fs) mistress kingdoms )

If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “for people will no longer call you”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

(Occurrence 0) queen of kingdoms

(Some words not found in UHB: sit in_silence and,go in/on/at/with,darkness daughter_of Kasdim that/for/because/then/when not longer called to/for=you(fs) mistress kingdoms )

Yahweh speaks of Babylon being the capital city of the Babylonian empire as if it were a queen who ruled many kingdoms.
