OET (OET-LV)And_he/it_said DOM brothers_my I [am]_seeking tell please to_me where [are]_they pasturing.

OET (OET-RV) “I’m looking for my brothers,” he answered. “Please tell me where they’re looking after our flocks.”

uW Translation Notes:

הַגִּֽידָה נָּ֣א לִ֔י

tell, please to=me

Alternate translation: “Do you know”

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / infostructure

אֵיפֹ֖ה הֵ֥ם רֹעִֽים

where they pasturing

For some languages it is more natural to put this clause earlier in the verse and say, “I am looking for my brothers who were somewhere around here shepherding/pasturing/tending their flocks. Do you know where they are now?” Do what is best in your language. Alternate translation: “where they are pasturing their flocks?”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

37:14-17 The brothers ranged far and wide. Shechem was about fifty miles from Hebron, and Dothan another fifteen miles beyond Shechem.
