וְהִנֵּ֥ה אֵין יוֹסֵ֖ף בַּבּ֑וֹר

and=see/lo/see! not Yōşēf in/on/at/with,pit

Alternate translation: “but to his surprise Joseph was gone!”

Note 1 topic: translate-symaction

וַיִּקְרַ֖ע אֶת בְּגָדָֽיו

and,tore DOM clothes,his

Alternate translation: “So he tore his clothes to show grief.” or “Then he was so grieved that he tore his clothes.”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

37:29-30 When Reuben returned, he tore his clothes in grief. His attempt to restore his relationship with his father by saving Joseph had gone awry.
