we binding sheaves in_the=middle the=field

A sheaf of grain is a bunch of grain stalks that have been cut and tied together in a bundle, with the heads of grain at the top. Wheat and barley were the grains that were common in this region at that time, not corn or oats. Alternate translation: “that we all were out in the middle of a field cutting stalks of grain and tying the stalks into sheaves” or “us working together out in a field cutting and tying sheaves of wheat stalks.”

וְהִנֵּ֛ה

and=see/lo/see!

Consider whether or not it is better in your language to begin a new sentence here.

Alternate translation: “my sheaf of grain” or “the sheaf that I had made”

sheaves,your_all's

Alternate translation: “your sheaves of grain” or “the bundles that you had made”

תְסֻבֶּ֨ינָה֙

gathered_around

Alternate translation: “stood around my sheaf” or “stood in a circle around my bundle”

Note 1 topic: translate-symaction

וַתִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֖יןָ לַאֲלֻמָּתִֽי

Alternate translation: “and bowed down to the ground to my sheaf to show submission.” or “and bowed respectfully to my sheaf” or “and bowed down in front of it in respect.”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

37:7 The bundles of grain hint at how Joseph’s authority over his family would be achieved (see 42:1-3).
