Yahweh says One thousand will flee at the rebuke of one as an extreme statement for emphasis. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a different way to express the emphasis. Alternate translation: [A great many of you will flee at the rebuke of just one enemy; at the rebuke of just]

Yahweh is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. You can supply these words from the context if that would be clearer in your language. Alternate translation: [One thousand of you will flee]

The implication is that you means “all of you.” You could include this information if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [all of you will flee]

The point of this comparison is that just as a flagpole on a mountain and a banner on a hill both stand alone and isolated, so the remaining Israelites will be left alone. If it would be helpful in your language, you could make this point explicitly. Alternate translation: [like a solitary flagpole on the head of a mountain and like a lone banner on a hill]
