12 Then Yahweh told Mosheh (Moses) and Aharon (Aaron) in Mitsrayim (Egypt), 2 “This month is to become the beginning of the months for you all—from now on it will be the first month of the new year. 3 Assemble the people and tell them that on the tenth of this month, every man who’s the head of the household must select a lamb or young goat for his family. 4 But if the household’s too small to cook a whole animal, then neighbours can combine and share—budgeting on how much each person eats. 5 You all can choose either a sheep or a goat, but it must be a perfect, one-year-old male—without any defects. 6 You all must take special care of those animals until the fourteenth day of this month, then every Israeli household will slaughter their animal early that evening. 7 Then they must take some of the blood and put it on both doorposts and on the lintel of the houses that they’ll be in when they eat it. 8 They must roast them on the fire and eat the meat that night, along with flat bread and bitter herbs. 9 Don’t eat any of the meat raw and don’t boil it in water—it must be roasted over the fire with its head, legs, and internal organs. 10 Nothing must be left by morning—anything that’s not eaten must be burnt in the fire. 11 And this is how you all must eat it: with your belts fastened on your waists, your sandals on your feet, and your staffs in your hands. You all must eat it in a hurry. It is the Passover to Yahweh.[ref]
12 Then during that night, I will move throughout Mitsrayim (Egypt) and I will kill all the oldest males—both people and animals. I will execute judgement on all the gods of Mitsrayim. I am Yahweh. 13 That blood on the doorposts and lintel will be your sign on the houses which you are all in. I will see the blood and will pass over above you all, and the plague won’t affect you all with destruction as I strike against Mitsrayim. 14 Then this day will become a memorial for you all, and you’ll celebrate it as a festival to Yahweh for future generations—a statute that you’ll all celebrate forever.[ref]
26:17 Yeshua gets ready to celebrate Passover
(Mark 14:12-21; Luke 22:7-13; 21-23; Yhn 13:21-30)
17 On the first day of the Flat Bread Celebration, the Yeshua’s (Jesus; Grk. Yesus) apprentices approached him and asked, “Where do you want us to prepare the pass-over meal for you?”
18 “Go into the city to so-and-so,” answered Yeshua, “and tell him that the teacher said, ‘My time is getting close, but I’ll celebrate the pass-over meal with you, along with my apprentices.’ ”
19 So the apprentices did as Yeshua had instructed them, and then they prepared the pass-over meal.
20 That evening as Yeshua was sitting with the twelve, 21 he said to them while they were still eating, “I can assure you that one of you is going to turn me in.”
22 They were very upset and one by one they asked him, “Surely it won’t be me, master?”
23 “It’s the one who dipped his bread into the bowl at the same time as I did,” Yeshua answered. “He’s the one who’s going to turn me in.[ref] 24 It’s true that the son of humanity is going to suffer what has already been written about, but on the other hand, the end won’t be good for the man who turns him in, in fact it would have been better for him if he’d never been born.”
25 “Surely it won’t be me, honoured teacher?” asked Yehudah (Judas; Grk. Yudas), the one who would hand him in.[fn]
26 Then during the meal, Yeshua (Jesus; Grk. Yesus) took some bread and blessed it, then he broke it into pieces and gave it to his apprentices, saying, “Take this and eat it—it’s my body.”
27 Then he took a cup of wine and after giving thanks, he shared it with them saying, “Everyone drink some, 28 because this is my blood[ref] of the agreement[ref] which is about to be poured out for the forgiveness of the sins of many people. 29 I can assure you all that I certainly won’t drink this pass-over wine again until I’m able to drink it together with you all in my father’s kingdom.”
30 Then they sang some songs before heading out of the city to the Mt. of Olives.

14 When it was time to eat, Yeshua (Jesus; Grk. Yesus) and his apprentices sat down together 15 and he told them, “I’ve been really looking forward to eating this pass-over dinner with you all before my time of suffering begins, 16 because I’m telling you that I certainly won’t eat it again until it’s fulfilled in God’s kingdom.”
17 Then when the wine cup was passed to him, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and share it among yourselves, 18 because I’m telling you that after this, I won’t drink the product of the vines again until God’s kingdom comes.
19 Then picking up some bread and giving thanks, he broke the bread apart and gave it to them saying, “This is my body which is being given for you all. Do this when you remember me.” 20 Similarly with the cup of wine that comes after they’ve eaten, he said, “This cup is the new agreement in my blood[ref] which will be poured out for you all.[ref]
42 They continued listening to the teaching of the missionaries, and building their relationships with each other, and breaking bread and praying together.
43 They were serious in their learning about God, and the missionaries did many miracles and signs of God’s power in Yerushalem (Jerusalem) and all the people wanted to be right with God. 44 All those who did believe were united in purpose and had shared use of many things.[ref] 45 Some sold their properties and possessions and divided them among the group so that everyone had everything they needed. 46 Each day they worshipped together at the temple and also went to various homes to break bread together. They talked about Yeshua (Jesus; Grk. Yesus) at their mealtimes without sophistication, 47 praising God and being popular with the people, and every day Yahweh was adding more that were being saved.
7 On the Sunday we had gathered together to break bread together and Paulos was discussing many things with them. As he was scheduled to leave the next day, the meeting went on towards midnight 8 and there were many lamps in the upper room where we had all gathered. 9 Now there was a young man named Eutukos who was sitting on the window sill, and as Paulos went on, he fell asleep and toppled down from the third storey. The ones who reached him first thought he was dead, 10 but Paulos had come downstairs and bent over Eutukos and held him in his arms and said to the crowd, “Don’t worry, he’s still alive.” 11 Then Paulos went back up and broke the bread with the others, eating a little and continuing to talk with them until leaving at daybreak. 12 The locals took the young man home and were very relieved that he was alive.
14 So my dear friends, totally avoid idolatry. 15 I’m speaking to sensible people, so judge what I’m telling you for yourselves. 16 When we bless the ‘cup of blessing’, aren’t we sharing the messiah’s blood? When we break the bread, aren’t we sharing the messiah’s body?[ref] 17 Because there’s just one loaf that we all eat pieces of, thus we who are many, are one body together.
18 Consider the people of Yisrael (Israel) from a physical perspective: Aren’t those who eat portions of the sacrifices, joining to the altar?[ref] RECHECK 19 So what am I saying? That whether or not food is sacrificed to idols means anything? Or that an idol is anything? 20 No, but the sacrifices of the pagans are offered to demons, not to God,[ref] and I don’t want you all to be partners with demons. 21 You can’t drink Yahweh’s cup as well as the cup of demons, nor can you partake at Yahweh’s table as well as the table of demons. 22 Or are we trying to make Yahweh envious?[ref] No, he’s more powerful than us.
17 But I’m not complimenting you all in giving the following instructions, because your gatherings have been doing more harm than good. 18 Firstly, I hear that when you gather together in the assembly, there are divisions among you all, and I partly believe it 19 because there must be differences among you to show who out of all of you are approved. 20 So then, when you gather together in one place, it’s not to celebrate by eating the master’s dinner 21 because during the meal, everyone grabs their own food without considering others. So some people remain hungry while others have too much to drink. 22 For eating and drinking, don’t you all have your own houses to do that in? Why are you showing contempt for God’s assembly and humiliating those left with nothing? What should I say about that? Should I praise you for that? No, I can’t!
23 I’ve already passed on to all of you everything that I received from the master: that on the night when he was betrayed, he took some bread 24 and after giving thanks, he broke off a piece and said, “This represents my body which will be broken for your sakes. Keep doing this in memory of me.” 25 Similarly, after the dinner he took the cup and said, “This cup represents the new agreement[ref] which will be sealed by my blood.[ref] As often as you all celebrate, drink it in memory of me.” 26 Because as often as you all celebrate by eating bread and drinking from the cup, you’ll continue to announce the master’s death until he returns.
27 Therefore, anyone who eats that bread or drinks from the master’s cup in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the master. 28 So everyone must first examine themself as part of eating that bread and drinking from that cup, 29 because anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body,[fn] eats and drinks judgement onto themself. 30 Because of that, many among you are weak and sick, and many have passed away, 31 but if we were examining ourselves, we wouldn’t be judged. 32 However, when we’re judged by Yahweh, we’re being disciplined so that we won’t be condemned along with the unbelievers.
33 So brothers and sisters, when you come together to celebrate this, wait for each other. 34 If anyone’s hungry, they should eat at home beforehand, so that your meetings won’t lead to judgement. I’ll give instructions about other matters when I get there.
11:29 Discern/distinguish/recognise their own body? The master’s body? The whole group as a body? Unfortunately, we can’t ask Paul exactly what he meant here.
