UTNuW Translation Notes:

וַיְסַפֵּ֣ר אֶל אָבִיו֮ וְאֶל אֶחָיו֒

and,told to/towards his/its=father and=near/to brothers,his

The Hebrew text is ambiguous here. Verse 10 could refer to: (1) a second time that Joseph told his dream; for example, “Then/Later Joseph told the same dream to both his father and his brothers, but his father …” or (2) the same time that he told this dream to his brothers in verse 9; for example, “When Joseph related/told the dream to his father and his brothers, his father …”

Note 1 topic: writing-quotations

and,rebuked in/on/over=him/it his/its=father and=he/it_said to=him/it

Your translation of this quote margin should not sound like two separate events; the verbs rebuked and said refer to the same event. Alternate translation: “but his father rebuked him by saying,”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion

מָ֛ה הַחֲל֥וֹם הַזֶּ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר חָלָ֑מְתָּ

what the=dream the=this which/who dreamed

Jacob uses a rhetorical question here to show that he is not happy about Joseph’s dream. Decide the best way to translate this in your language. Alternate translation: “Your dream is ridiculous”

See how you translated bow down in verse 7. Alternate translation: “come to you and bow down to the ground”
