Alternate translation: “So they”

Alternate translation: “took his robe,” or “picked up his tunic”

וַֽ⁠יִּשְׁחֲטוּ֙ שְׂעִ֣יר עִזִּ֔ים

For some languages it is more natural to switch the order of clauses in this verse and say, “Then/So Joseph’s brothers killed a young goat, took Joseph’s/his tunic/robe, and dipped it in the goat’s blood.” or “Then/So Joseph’s brothers killed a young goat and dipped Joseph’s/his tunic/robe in the goat’s blood.” Do what is best in your language. Alternate translation: “and dipped the robe in its blood.”
