ULTAnd we said to my lord, ‘We have an aged father and the youngest son of his old age. But his brother is dead, so he is left by himself from his mother, and his father loves him.’

USTAnd we told you, sir, that we have an elderly father and also a younger brother who was born when our father was already old. That brother’s mother only had one other son, who is now dead. So our father especially loves our youngest brother.

In this sentence, brother refers to an older brother from the same father and mother. Some languages have a special kinship term for that. Do what is best in your language. Alternate translation: “That son is the only one left alive from his mother, since his brother died.”
