OET (OET-LV)And_urged in/on/at/with_them exceedingly and_turned_aside to_him/it and_they_came into house_his and_he/it_made to/for_them a_feast and_unleavened_bread he_baked and_ate.

OET (OET-RV) However, Lot insisted, so they followed him off the main road and went into his house. Then he prepared a feast for them and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.

uW Translation Notes:

וַיִּפְצַר בָּ֣ם מְאֹ֔ד

and,urged in/on/at/with,them very

Alternate translation: “But Lot insisted urgently” or “However he continued to urge them earnestly” or “However he continued to urgently invite them”

וַיָּסֻ֣רוּ אֵלָ֔יו

and,turned_aside to=him/it

Alternate translation: “until he finally convinced them and they went with him”

וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ אֶל בֵּית֑וֹ

and=they_came to/towards house,his

Alternate translation: “to his house and entered it.”

וַיַּ֤עַשׂ לָהֶם֙ מִשְׁתֶּ֔ה

and=he/it_made to/for=them feast

Lot probably had his wife or servants prepare the meal (as Abraham did in Gen 18:6-7). It is common in the Bible to say that a leader or head of household (as here) did something, when in reality he had it done by someone else who was under his authority. Alternate translation: “Then he made a big meal for them,” or “Then Lot had a big meal prepared for them,”

וּמַצּ֥וֹת אָפָ֖ה

and,unleavened_bread baked

Alternate translation: “including some bread without yeast in it,”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

19:1-38 The Canaanites were an evil, corrupting people. God judged their morally bankrupt civilization and warned others against becoming like them. It was difficult to get Lot and his family out of Sodom; it was more difficult to get Sodom out of Lot and his family. This chapter helped later Israelites to understand the moral and spiritual threat of the peoples living in and around the Promised Land, such as the Canaanites and Lot’s descendants, the Moabites and the Ammonites (see Num 22–25; Deut 23:3-6; Josh 24:9; Judg 10:7-9; 11:4-5; 1 Sam 10:27; 1 Kgs 11:1-3; 2 Kgs 24:2).

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Greek words that they’re translated from.
