Quis enim non insaniat, non perdat cor, cum principes et reges et sacerdotes quondam suos sub leone conspexerit.

Here “hearts” represent courage. Also “the hearts … will die” represents losing courage and being afraid. Alternate translation: “the king and his officials will stop being courageous” or “the king and his officials will be terrified” (See also: figs-metaphor)
