41:2 The Hebrew word which the LXX. have here written in Greek characters without translating it, is rendered in the place A. V. by meadow, in Job 8. 11, the only other passage where it occurs, by flag.

41:1-46 God had used two dreams to identify Joseph as a leader among his brothers (37:5-11). He used two dreams to test Joseph’s faith in prison (40:5-14). Now he would use two dreams to elevate Joseph from prison to preeminence. Joseph had repeatedly proven faithful in small matters; now he would be put in charge of great things.

Alternate translation: “seven cows that were healthy-looking and well-fed came up out of the river onto the bank” or “seven healthy-looking, well-fed cows came up out of the river onto the bank”
