TSNTyndale Study Notes:

23:9-32 These short poems and interjections appear to be excerpts from a session in which the Lord prepared Jeremiah to prosecute the false prophets of Jerusalem. Because these leaders had misused the Lord’s name, they incurred his wrath (Exod 20:7).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Connecting Statement:

Connecting Statement:

Yahweh continues to deliver his message about the false prophets and priests that he began in [Jeremiah 23:9](../23/09.md) and completes in [Jeremiah 23:40](./40.md).

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion

(Occurrence 0) Am I only a God nearby … and not also a God far away?

(Some words not found in UHB: ?,God_of from,near I declares_of YHWH and=not god_of from,far )

Yahweh uses this question to rebuke the priests and false prophets for thinking that he did not rule everywhere. Alternate translation: “I am not only a God who is here in Jerusalem … but I am everywhere!”
