TSNTyndale Study Notes:

23:9-32 These short poems and interjections appear to be excerpts from a session in which the Lord prepared Jeremiah to prosecute the false prophets of Jerusalem. Because these leaders had misused the Lord’s name, they incurred his wrath (Exod 20:7).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

(Occurrence 0) I am against

(Some words not found in UHB: for=so/thus/hence behold,I on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in the,prophets declares YHWH steal words,my (a)_man from,with his/its=neighbour )

Alternate translation: “I am opposed to”

(Occurrence 0) steals words from another person

(Some words not found in UHB: for=so/thus/hence behold,I on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in the,prophets declares YHWH steal words,my (a)_man from,with his/its=neighbour )

This implies that the false prophets are thieves. They are so evil that they take each other’s messages without permission rather than make up their own false messages.
