OET (OET-RV) Now Yosef was the governor over all of Egypt and he was the one there who was selling grain to all the people. So Yosef’s brothers approached and bowed down to him with their noses to the ground.
Note 1 topic: writing-background
וְיוֹסֵ֗ף ה֚וּא הַשַּׁלִּ֣יט עַל הָאָ֔רֶץ
and,Joseph he/it the,governor on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in the=earth/land
Alternate translation: “Since Joseph was the administrator over the land of Egypt,”
הָאָ֑רֶץ
the=earth/land
The Hebrew text is ambiguous here. It could mean: (1) “the country of Egypt”, which is what it means earlier in verse 6; or (2) “the earth/world.”
וַיָּבֹ֨אוּ֙ אֲחֵ֣י יוֹסֵ֔ף
and=they_came brothers Yōşēf's
So/Then Joseph’s brothers also came/went
Note 2 topic: translate-symaction
וַיִּשְׁתַּֽחֲווּ ל֥וֹ אַפַּ֖יִם אָֽרְצָה
and,bowed_down to=him/it faces ground,to
See how you translated “bow down” in Gen 37:7, 9-10. Alternate translation: “before him like everyone else and bowed down with their foreheads toward the ground to show him respect.” or “to him and prostrated themselves before him to show respect.”
42:6-7 Joseph’s first dream (37:5-11) was partially fulfilled when his brothers bowed down to him without recognizing him (see also 43:26; 44:14). It was totally fulfilled in 50:18. Joseph recognized his brothers immediately, but he could not reveal himself because he did not yet trust them to be the honest men they claimed to be (42:10).
OET (OET-LV) And_Yōşēf he the_governor over the_earth/land he the_sold to/from_all/each/any/every the_people the_earth/land and_they_came the_brothers of_Yōşēf and_bowed_down to_him/it face ground_to.
OET (OET-RV) Now Yosef was the governor over all of Egypt and he was the one there who was selling grain to all the people. So Yosef’s brothers approached and bowed down to him with their noses to the ground.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Greek words that they’re translated from.
