TSNTyndale Study Notes:

57:11 The people were living in fear of false gods instead of fearing the Lord (see 8:12-13).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion

(Occurrence 0) Whom are you worried about? Whom do you fear so much that has caused you to act so deceitfully … about me?

(Some words not found in UHB: and=DOM who? dreaded and, feared that/for/because/then/when lied and,DOM,me not remember not give on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in heart, your ?,not I silent and,for,long_time and,DOM,me not fear )

Yahweh uses these questions to scold the people. Alternate translation: “You must really fear these idols for you to act so deceitfully … about me!”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / doublet

(Occurrence 0) so much that you would not remember me or think about me

(Some words not found in UHB: and=DOM who? dreaded and, feared that/for/because/then/when lied and,DOM,me not remember not give on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in heart, your ?,not I silent and,for,long_time and,DOM,me not fear )

These two phrases mean basically the same thing and emphasize that, although the people should have remembered Yahweh, they did not.
