TSNTyndale Study Notes:

60:17-20 These verses portray Zion’s future grandeur (cp. Rev 21:10–22:4).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism

(Occurrence 0) for Yahweh will be your everlasting light

(Some words not found in UHB: not set again/more sun,your and,moon,your not wane that/for/because/then/when YHWH will_belong for,you for,light everlasting and,ended days_of mourning,your )

Both verses repeat this same idea for emphasis.

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

(Occurrence 0) Your sun will no longer set, nor will your moon withdraw and disappear

(Some words not found in UHB: not set again/more sun,your and,moon,your not wane that/for/because/then/when YHWH will_belong for,you for,light everlasting and,ended days_of mourning,your )

The moon will not literally disappear. This exaggeration is saying that the light of the sun and the moon will be much less bright than the light of Yahweh. (See also: figs-hyperbole)
