TSNTyndale Study Notes:

49:1-6 Ammon was the next nation brought to trial in the Lord’s courtroom. Ammon was the second of Lot’s descendants (see study note on 48:1-47); its territory was north of Moab and east of Israel. The destruction of Ammon occurred shortly after the fall of Jerusalem.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

(Occurrence 0) you

(Some words not found in UHB: look,I bring on,you terror declares my=master GOD armies/angels from=all around,you and,scattered (a)_man before,face/front,it and,no gather to_the,fugitives )

The word “you” refers to the people of Ammon.

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

(Occurrence 0) this terror will come from all those who surround you. Each one of you will be scattered before it

(Some words not found in UHB: look,I bring on,you terror declares my=master GOD armies/angels from=all around,you and,scattered (a)_man before,face/front,it and,no gather to_the,fugitives )

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea behind the word terror, you can express the same idea with the verb “terrify.” The phrase “will be scattered” can be stated in active form. Alternate translation: “I will cause all those around you to terrify you. Each one of you flee to different directions”
