UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / hyperbole

(Occurrence 0) they lie at every street corner

(Some words not found in UHB: children, your fainted lie in/on/at/with,head all/each/any/every street like, antelope net the,full_of severe_anger YHWH rebuke God,your )

This is generalization. Many children will lie in the street, but not necessarily on every street corner. Alternate translation: “they lie on the street”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / simile

(Occurrence 0) like an antelope in a net

(Some words not found in UHB: children, your fainted lie in/on/at/with,head all/each/any/every street like, antelope net the,full_of severe_anger YHWH rebuke God,your )

This speaks of the children being exhausted and helpless as if they were an antelope caught in a trap. Alternate translation: “they are helpless, like an antelope caught in a net” or “as helpless as a trapped antelope”

Note 3 topic: translate-unknown

(Occurrence 0) antelope

(Some words not found in UHB: children, your fainted lie in/on/at/with,head all/each/any/every street like, antelope net the,full_of severe_anger YHWH rebuke God,your )

This is an animal, similar to a deer, that has horns and runs very fast. Alternate translation: “deer”

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

(Occurrence 0) they are filled with the anger of Yahweh, the rebuke of your God

(Some words not found in UHB: children, your fainted lie in/on/at/with,head all/each/any/every street like, antelope net the,full_of severe_anger YHWH rebuke God,your )

The “anger of Yahweh” refers to Yahweh punishing his people because of his anger against them. This speaks of the people having been severely punished as if they had become full of Yahweh’s anger. Also, the word “rebuke” can be written as a verb. Alternate translation: “they have been severely punished by Yahweh because he was angry with them and rebuked them” (See also: figs-abstractnouns)
