UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / apostrophe

(Occurrence 0) Sing, you heavens … glory in Israel

(Some words not found in UHB: sing heavens that/for/because/then/when he/it_had_made YHWH shout depths earth break_forth mountains singing forest and=all tree/word in/on/over=him/it that/for/because/then/when redeemed YHWH Yaˊₐqoⱱ/(Jacob) and,in/on/at/with,Israel glorified )

Here Isaiah speaks various parts of creation as if they were people and commands them to praise Yawheh. (See also: figs-personification)

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / merism

(Occurrence 0) you depths of the earth

(Some words not found in UHB: sing heavens that/for/because/then/when he/it_had_made YHWH shout depths earth break_forth mountains singing forest and=all tree/word in/on/over=him/it that/for/because/then/when redeemed YHWH Yaˊₐqoⱱ/(Jacob) and,in/on/at/with,Israel glorified )

“you lowest parts of the earth.” This could mean: (1) that this refers to very deep places on the earth such as caves or canyons and forms a merism with “heavens” in the previous phrase or (2) that this refers to the place of the dead.
