uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / personification

בַּת־בָּבֶ֗ל

(Some words not found in UHB: daughter_of Bāⱱel [which,is]_about_to_be_destroyed happy [is,the_one]_who_he_will_repay to/for=you(fs) DOM dealing_of,your which,you_dealt to/for=us )

The psalmist is speaking of Babylon as if it were a woman by calling it Daughter. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [Babylon] or [The city of Babylon]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / apostrophe

בַּת־בָּבֶ֗ל

(Some words not found in UHB: daughter_of Bāⱱel [which,is]_about_to_be_destroyed happy [is,the_one]_who_he_will_repay to/for=you(fs) DOM dealing_of,your which,you_dealt to/for=us )

The psalmist is speaking to Babylon as if the city could hear him. He is doing this to communicate to the people listening to him that he feels very strongly about the judgment that Babylon deserves. If it would be helpful in your language, you could translate these words as if he were speaking directly to the people about Babylon. Alternate translation: [As for Babylon]

Note 3 topic: translate-alternativereadings

הַשְּׁד֫וּדָ֥ה

(Some words not found in UHB: daughter_of Bāⱱel [which,is]_about_to_be_destroyed happy [is,the_one]_who_he_will_repay to/for=you(fs) DOM dealing_of,your which,you_dealt to/for=us )

The phrase the devastated one is a translation of the written Hebrew text. This reading, however, does not seem to make sense. You may want to follow an alternative reading from some ancient Greek and Aramaic translations. The UST follows that reading. Alternate translation: [you destroyer]

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / exclamations

אַשְׁרֵ֥י

(Some words not found in UHB: daughter_of Bāⱱel [which,is]_about_to_be_destroyed happy [is,the_one]_who_he_will_repay to/for=you(fs) DOM dealing_of,your which,you_dealt to/for=us )

The psalmist is using an exclamation to express a strong desire for justice against Babylon. There may be an equivalent word or phrase in your language that you can use in your translation to convey this feeling. Alternate translation: [how happy is]

Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

אֶת־גְּ֝מוּלֵ֗ךְ שֶׁגָּמַ֥לְתְּ לָֽנוּ

DOM (Some words not found in UHB: daughter_of Bāⱱel [which,is]_about_to_be_destroyed happy [is,the_one]_who_he_will_repay to/for=you(fs) DOM dealing_of,your which,you_dealt to/for=us )

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of repayment, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [in order to repay you for all you did to us]
