Moses is speaking as if God were actually a habitation or place for the Israelites to live. He means that God has protected the Israelites, just as the walls of a home provide shelter. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [you have protected us]

As the introduction to this psalm discusses, the pronoun you is singular here and throughout the psalm because Moses is addressing Yahweh directly. So use the singular form in your translation if your language marks that distinction.

Moses is using in generation and generation as a common expression of his culture to mean “in every generation.” If this phrase does not have that meaning in your language, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly.
